Series of Unfortunate Events: The Slippery Slope

Hook:
“Who goes there?...the villain standing with his two cohorts near his long, black automobile, staring suspiciously at the masked volunteers(pg.137)…”We’re here for Sunny Baudelaire,” Klaus said, “and we’re not leaving without her.”(pg.138)...we know where the sugar bowl is(pg.139)…The sky above Mount Fraught was swarming with eagles…flying in silent circles high above the two sinister villains(pg.141)…capturing a group of young people who think they’re here to celebrate False Spring(pg.142)…the three children reached up and took off their masks for the greater good…”(pg.145)

Recommendation:
Do you like reading about some children who encounter all sorts of unfortunate events, but are smart enough to escape them? Read about how Violet, Klaus, and Sunny escape the clutches of the evil Count Olaf who wants the fortune that the Baudelaire parents left to them in this book. When Sunny is captured by Count Olaf and his troupe, Violet and Klaus have to find a way to get Sunny back. This book is the tenth book in the series, and you may want to start from the first book.

A Series of Unfortunate Events #3 The Wide Wide Window

Hook:      " Why would  she be frightened  of a dock? Klaus asked, looking around the wooden pires and sailboats. 'She's frightened of anything to do with Lake Lachrymose,'Mr. Poe said, 'but she didn't say why. Perhaps it has to do with her hasband's death. Your aunt Josephine-she's not really your aunt of course; she's your second cousion's  sister-in-law, but she asked that you call her aunt Josephine- your aunt lost her husband recently, and it may be posslible that he drowed in a boat accident.

Recommedation:
Have you ever read any of the series of the unfortunate events, if not then you are in for a jounery. The Baudelaire orphans have been through A LOT of things and they always have to do something with Count Olaf and wanting their fortune. See in the first book the Baudelaire's parents died in a fire and their home got destroyed. next they were sent to Count Olaf and he tortured them so badly, just for a stupid fortune now, thats cruel.
If you are ok with sad books this would be the book for you. If you don't like sad books leave your laptop right NOW!!!

Hugo Movie Companion

     Hook! :(p12)

"It all began with A Trip To The Moon. I can't remember exactly when I first saw the mesmerizing 1902 film by Georges Melies, but I was very young. I grew up in the East Brunswick, New Jersey, the oldest of three kids. I loved to draw and watch monster movies."

                                                          Recommendation

I recommend this book to all kids that enjoy reading. This book has a lot of illustrations, and very little text in each chapter. With each illustration there are little captions to go with it. The book is about an orphan named Hugo. Hugo works inside a big clock in the train station, so the clock keeps on moving. This book takes place in a train station. Hugo needs to fixes his father's automaton, will he be able to do it? The best part is at the end, you will have to read it to find out!

There's also a mean girl Mackenzie.
There's a dance. One day Brandon comes over to Nikkie and says......
"Umm Nikkie can I ask you something" Brandon said
"YES BRANDON YOU CAN TELL ME!"
                                  Recommendation
I recommend this book to kids that love suprise and romance. There are a lot of lies, ideas, sneaking, gossip. I read this book non-stop because every page is unbleavble suprise that you will be shocked. .There is a special funny part in it but it turns sad. The next few days something bad happens to her BFF'S. I believe that boys and girls will love this book because its a perfect grade level, it will not be boring, it will be the greatest book...you might even finish the book in one day.

The Best Christmas Pageant Ever

Hook:

"The tool house burned right down to the ground, and I think that surprised the Herman's. They set fire to things all the time, but that was the first time they managed to burn down the whole building. I guess it was an accident. I don't suppose they woke up that morning and said, 'Let's go burn down Fred shoemaker's toolhouse'... but maybe they did. After all, it was a Saturday, and not much going on."(page 4)

Recommendation:
Have you ever met anyone like the Herman's?????

The Herman's daily Checklist
* lie
*steal
*smoke cigars( even the girls)
*talk dirty
*hit little kids
*curse their teachers
The Herman's are the WORST kids in History. They appear in church one day and decide to take over the Christmas pageant. None of them have ever heard the Christmas story. This year's pageant is most unusual but possibly the best one yet.I recommend this book to people who like books not to long and not to short.
So head down to your local Library and pick up this book.

A Week in the Woods

Hook
"It took Mr. Maxwell about 15 minutes to locate Mrs. Streans.  After checking over at the girl's cabin's, he walked back and found her at the main lodge.  Taking her aside, he explained what he had to do.  "And I'm going to have to leave you in charge for a couple of hours, all right?"
"My goodness,  she said, shaking her head.  "You'd think that boy would have more sense than to do something so stupid.  But sooner or later, everyone is going to learn that know 'no' means 'no', even when your daddy's got half a million dollars." (pg.128)
