The Invention Of Hugo Cabret

Hook:

Hugo was afraid that his uncle would track him down if he left, but finally, on the third night that his uncle did not return, he decided to escape.

Crash! Hugo had crashed into someone’s back, fell to the floor, looked up, and saw the hand of the station inspector as it closed in on him. He tried to roll the other way, but he found himself stopped by Madame Emilie and Monsieur Frick, who descended on him through the crowd like vultures. They grabbed Hugo roughly and dragged him to his feet.

Recommendation:

Hugo lives in the walls of a busy Paris train station, where he depends on secrets and anonymity.  But when his world suddenly interlocks---like the gears of the clocks Hugo keeps- with an eccentric, bookish girl and a bitter old man who runs a toy booth in the train station, Hugo’s undercover life and his most precious secret are put in jeopardy. A cryptic drawing, a treasured notebook, a stolen key, a mechanical man, a hidden message from Hugo’s dead father form the backbone of his intricacy, tender, and spellbinding mystery.
