Confetti Girl
“The Hook”
“I grab Vanessa’s sleeve and hold her back a while letting my dad walk out of earshot.
‘You better stop it with the silver fox and poetry stuff, I say.
‘Why should I? Don’t you get it? The silver fox was all make believe, but your dad is for real…This is a match made from heaven Lina.’
Recommendation
Have you ever had so many questions that no one will ever answer them? Well Apolonia Flores (Lina for short) has this problem. After her mom’s death, her failing English and her dad only quotes on English Lina feels alone. She NEEDS answers! After best friend Vanessa wants to get their parents together she feels like she doesn’t know her best friend any more. Vanessa’s mom is obsessed with making cascorones (hollowed egg shells filled with confetti). So any time you try to talk to her she talks about Cascorones. Will Lina ever find answers? Well she ever figure out her best friend? Read this book to find out!
